Firefighter Urns are cremation urns used to house the cremated remains of a firefighter who has died in the line of duty. Funeral urns are not uniform throughout the United States, but they generally share similarities.
Firefighter Urns are usually made of wood, although some are metal or crystal-lined. The design of the urn varies based on each department. Some have engravings on the urn to provide information about the deceased, including his or her name, date of birth and death, department, occupation, and citation of bravery. Others are engraved with emblems representative of the firefighter’s fire service. Some are designed with covers that are screwed closed or have some other type of fastener.
